Good afternoon, Chaverim,
I thought this was an important and intriguing quote and wanted to share it with you this afternoon.
Here is today’s Everyday Gratitude Quote in the Middle of a Pandemic:
“ Perhaps the most important thing we bring to another person is the silence in us. Not the sort of silence that is filled with unspoken criticism or hard withdrawl. The sort of silence that is a place of refuge, of rest, of acceptance of someone as they are. We are all hungry for this other silence.” Rachel Naomi Remen
Q. for Consideration: Can I offer the silence of acceptance to someone today?
I agree with the author that one of the greatest gifts we can offer to others is our quiet, non-judgmental acceptance of them for who they truly are. We ARE all “hungry” to be seen and accepted in this way. This afternoon, as Shabbat approaches, I am wondering if perhaps G-d is waiting for us to enter into the silence of his/her “ahavah raba”, his/her great love for and acceptance of us just as we are in this very moment with all of our flaws and imperfections, our fears and bad behaviors? This seems to me to be the great promise of the “Shabbat Shalom” we wish each other every Friday and this is the gift I hope we all find this Shabbat.
So, “Shabbat Shalom”, my friends!
