Artist/Educator-in-Residence Marni Loffman

Marni Loffman will be joining the Beth Am Israel community this year as an Educator- and Musician-in-Residence. Marni will spend time leading programs for adults, families and youth bringing new music, immersive educational content and exciting local projects exploring the role of creativity in building strong interfaith and intercultural communities around important social issues. You will be able to join Marni this coming year for evenings of music and reflection, spiritual programming, learning opportunities and more.

Saturday, November 18 at 10 am – Shabbat Morning Tefilah at Fort Washington State Park led by Hazzan Harold
Join us Shabbat morning at Fort Washington State Park for a magical musical morning of tefillah in nature. We will wander in the woods, sing with our instruments, engage in contemplative practice, learn and eat! We encourage you to bring something to share as part of the service, such as a poem, song, teaching or prayer. Bring an instrument if you are moved. Also, bring some dairy/pareve food to share for a potluck at the end. We will provide drinks and challah. If the weather doesn’t permit, we will update you on Friday Nov 17 and meet in the BAI Chapel.

Marni’s Bio

Marni Loffman is a community-driven musician and educator exploring how to hold complexity and contradiction compassionately.  Embodying a unique Jewish voice and beyond, Marni explores emotions on personal and collective levels through their music. Marni is a performer and group facilitator who has worked in a broad range of fields: as a homelessness street outreach specialist, a doula, a Jewish experiential educator and a ritual leader. They are committed to healing Jewish practices, building social-emotional awareness, inspiring paradoxical curiosity and cultivating creative expression. With an MA in Peacebuilding, and extensive training in restorative/transformative justice practices, dialogue/mediation, and trauma healing, Marni’s music rawly navigates the complexities of life and takes contemporary spins on traditional prayer.  Marni’s unique musicality, spiritual insight and diverse Jewish experience inspires art and programming rooted in the transformational power of music, improvisation and deep listening.
