Good Morning, Chaverim,
Following the advice in the Gratitude Quote I shared yesterday, I am writing to express my/our gratitude for the many people from the BAI community who have supported Sam and me since before his surgery in March through this past week. I have been trying to thank people over these many months (though I know I missed some of you), but I realized when I wrote yesterday that my/our gratitude needed to be expressed “out loud”.
We are grateful for: the initial advice/referrals of possible surgeons; the “checking in” texts; the phone calls; the emails; the hospital and home visits; the “get well” cards; the amazing, delicious meals; the food gift cards; the dinner invitations; the many prayers, “misheberachs”, and good wishes; the offers of rehab equipment; the help with projects around the house that we could not do ourselves; the advice regarding rehab and care at home; and the opportunities to just be and pray together in our “zoom” minyanim.
The list is long and not in any particular order…your help was no less important to us no matter where your name appears!

Needless to say, the outpouring of love, generosity and support has been truly amazing and humbling. As many of you know, this is NOT the first time this community has supported us through illnesses and surgeries these last few years, so it feels especially important to publicly acknowledge how blessed we are to be members of Congregation Beth Am Israel, this community that truly “shows up” and “lives its values” in great and small ways, day in and day out, year after year. THANK YOU!
I have tried to remember everyone, but I know that I will have missed a few of you. Please accept our apology in advance if we missed you and know that we are nevertheless beyond grateful for your support. (Apologies are also due to anyone who may have preferred that our thanks be less public!)
With love and gratitude,
Marci and Sam
