BAI Listserv Policies
At Beth Am Israel, we are committed to building community through respectful and civil sharing and discussion rooted in Jewish values. Participation in our listservs is a privilege, not a right.
Our Listserv Code of Civility and Respect reflects our commitment to building community through our listservs. Listserv posts that undermine our community ties are not in the spirit of our listservs.
The email content that is appropriate for each BAI listerv is laid out in our Listserv Policies.
To guide you, we’ve created summaries of the posting policies:
- Posting Guide: a chart at the beginning of the listserv policy document. Page 1 is for BAI-Share. Page 2 is for BAI-Discuss.
- Posting Infographic: same info, more visual format.
The complete policy document remains the controlling policy.
What if I'm unsure about whether an email I'd like to post is appropriate for a particular listserv?
Before posting, we urge you to contact our Listserv Oversight Committee (LOC) at BAI-LOC+admin@gaggle.email. For more on the LOC, read the FAQ “How do we uphold our listserv culture and policies?”
We trust each other to uphold the spirit of our listserv policy. We do not review or monitor emails in advance of posting.
We police ourselves through our member-led Listserv Oversight Committee (LOC). The LOC is comprised of BAI members appointed by the President. The LOC’s responsibility is to educate members about potential and actual listserv violations, as well as to enforce penalties when required.
You can review our full Listserv Policies here. The policies cover: the types of posts that are appropriate for each listserv; listserv etiquette; violations and penalties; and the review process for determining any violations through our Listserv Oversight Committee (LOC).
If you are concerned that a listserv post may have violated our Listserv Policies, please contact our Listserv Oversight Committee at BAI-LOC+admin@gaggle.email.
