A Fiddler on the Zoom.
Sounds crazy?
No!
In fact, that is exactly what we are going to do – stage an entire musical (abridged, the good parts) on Zoom.
Fiddler on the Roof tells the tale of Tevye the Milkman and his crazy arguments with God, his five daughters, and the struggle with a changing world. It also had great songs, like, ‘Tradition’, “If I Were a Rich Man”,” Matchmaker, Matchmaker”,” L’Chayim”, “Sunrise, Sunset” and more.
Fiddler on the Zoom will tell a slightly different tale of Tevye with some local and modern twists, references, and tweaks. We can’t wait to get started!
We need you: singers, actors, musicians. Anyone and everyone can participate. Want to be Tevye? Great. We can have as many Tevyes’ as we want! Want to sing “Matchmaker Matchmaker?” Sing it! Want to be the tailor? Want to play the trumpet? Super. Sign up!
Individuals can sign up, families can sing a favorite song. Your theater-deprived college or high schooler can sign up. Never been in a show before? Sign up!
Want just a small part? Perfect, we have a role for you (maybe just a line, or a short bit of a song!).
As we go, we will send out special requests for pictures, images of ‘home’, and other surprises. Stay tuned and be a part of the fun!
The best part: You don’t have to leave your house (or backyard)! All of the clips you send will be edited together to form the whole show that will air on Sunday Night, March 14.
Once we cast everyone, we will send you a script with your lines, instructions, and stage directions. If you sign up to sing, we will send you the backing tracks and get those to you as well with detailed instructions.
That’s all for now.
Sign up and get ready to have a great time in our first ever BAI Zoomsical, Fiddler on the Zoom!
L’Chayim-
