“Something Different” for Shabbat Mornings features new ways to explore Tefilah and Torah on Shabbat Mornings at BAI!
Eight unique Shabbat mornings throughout the year developed in partnership with our clergy and professional team, our Religious and Spiritual Life Committee, and over 40 BAI congregants!
Each of the eight “Something Different” Shabbat Mornings will include:
- Engaging mindfulness practices
- Expanded, spirited Shabbat morning tefilah, led by our music prayer leaders and members of the Interfaith music project
- A mid-morning ‘break’ with light fare and time to socialize
- Interactive study on different topics, alongside our traditional Torah reading.
- Creative Torah reading featuring a mix of traditional reading and alternative, “hands-on” Torah
- Opportunities for intergenerational prayer and learning with our Shorashim students and families.
Schedule for Saturday, September 21:
8:15a: meditative ‘sit’
9:00-10:00:
Torah Study (led by Rabbi David) OR
Extended Musical Tefilah encompassing the entire morning service, through the Amidah. Led by Hazzan Harold w/ members of the Interfaith Music Project. All congregants are welcome to join in the music and prayer making!
9:30: Shorashim Shabbat begins led by Cantor Jenn
10:00: Break w/light fare
10:15: Traditional Torah service begins; Shorashim Shabbat continues
10:30:
Traditional Torah reading OR
Adult learning (led by Rabbi David, Hazzan Harold, Cantor Jenn, or a guest)
11:00: Shorashim Shabbat concludes with Kiddush for families
11:30:Musaf (Traditional and Alternative)
11:45: Kiddush Luncheon for our entire community.
