Good afternoon, Chaverim,
I learned earlier this week that, unbeknownst to me, two long time friends had recently passed away unexpectedly, both years before their time. I had not been in touch with either of them for quite some time, but their loss has nevertheless profoundly shaken me. These random, unexpected losses, and the mounting losses from this relentless pandemic, have combined to make life itself feel pretty darned fragile right now. And so, this simple quote really struck me today…
Here is today’s Gratitude Thought in the Middle of a Pandemic:
Hal Sutton
“All the people you haven’t told you love lately, tell them, and live your days like you mean it.”
It is so easy for us to take the people we love for granted, to get so swept up in the “business” and “busyness” of our lives that we forget what is essential, what truly matters. And, there can be no doubt that, at the beginning and end of the day, it is the people who matter…pretty simple, really. It’s so simple and obvious that we really shouldn’t require a reminder that we need to endlessly speak our love out loud and “live our days” as if we really “mean” it…manifesting that love in our thoughts, words and, most importantly, our deeds.
I have been searching for my annual New Year’s resolution (my “greatest hits” have all felt shallow and meaningless this year) and it has been alluding me….until now. I have found a resolution that matters and will matter each and every day I may be blessed to have people I love in my life and the opportunity to live that love out loud.
May your days be filled with love and may you never forget to speak and live it like you mean it!
Shabbat Shalom to all,
Marci
