Good morning, Chaverim,
This beautiful quote from the late, great Maya Angelou invites us to deeply consider the wisdom of being present and grateful…
Here is today’s Everyday Gratitude Quote in the Middle of a Pandemic:“If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present…gratefully.”
Maya Angelou
I love the idea of looking backward with a forgiving heart that can help free us from the emotional baggage of the past. Equally compelling is the idea of looking forward with a prayer for the future, recognizing that there is so much we do not and can never control. But, I really appreciate the wise advice to value, be grateful for, and be present to the blessings of the present…to our lives just as they are right now in their most perfect imperfection, full of possibility.
When we can free ourselves from our anger/sadness/ regret for the past as well as our concern/worry/fear for the future, we are free to truly appreciate, be grateful for, and find the sweetness and peace that awaits us here, in this very moment, at this hour…on this day that is so precious and unlike any other that has come before it or will ever come again.
Wishing you all a very sweet and peaceful Shabbat.
