Good morning, Chaverim,

I thought this was an interesting piece to share and to think about as we head into Shabbat on this gorgeous Friday morning.

Here is today’s Everyday Gratitude Quote in the Middle of a Pandemic:

“In nature there is no alienation.  Everything belongs.”

Deng Ming-Dao

A simple, but profound, idea…that everything and everyone belongs in our world, that we all have a place, that we all have worth and import…no matter who we are, where we come from, or what we look like…no matter what.  We are here and we deserve to be here, we are worthy, we belong.  Though nature can surely be cruel, there is “no alienation,” nothing and no one is strange other… everything and everyone who has “naturally” shown up here belongs here and has an essential and meaningful part to play in the system, the whole.

And, though it feels as if the entire world is experiencing a period of great upheaval and transition, and many of us are feeling unsure of where we will fit in this evolving world, I am feeling grateful this morning to understand that, when the moving parts stop moving, the dust settles and the music stops, when we bravely raise our heads, look around and behold our “new normal,” there will be a new place for all of us and we will all still belong.   In the meantime, we need to stay hopeful and open to the opportunities and possibilities that present themselves, remain firmly committed to our values and principles, and hold tightly to one another as we ride the waves of transition and change.

Wishing you all a very peaceful Shabbat,

Marci
