The American Jobs Plan is a $2 trillion dollar plan to put Americans back to work after the pandemic.  It’s our country’s best hope for unprecedented investment in climate solutions.  Simultaneously, the Plan addresses racial inequity by targeting resources to communities that most need of relief from high unemployment, pollution, and harmful impacts of the changing climate. Both polluters and pollution are disproportionately located in communities of color.

There is intense pressure being put on members of Congress to reduce the scope and ambition of President Biden’s American Jobs Plan. Business groups such as the US Chamber of Commerce have already held or scheduled 65 meetings with congressional offices to oppose the size, cost, and corporate tax increases proposed to pay for, the Plan.  Environmental justice provisions could be dropped, so we need to stay engaged for the next few months as legislation is drafted, goes through the committee process, and comes up for votes.

Letters are really needed over the next few months.  Please start or continue the habit of writing to your Senators and Representative.
